" "I embraced them all - I, who had once been a damaged, brooding boy reluctant to be touched. Loved them so much I've already started Naamah's Kiss. Tears of joy for the triumphant ending, tears of sadness as I am going to miss Imriel and Sidonie. " I finished this set in the series as I did the first, fighting back tears. Beautiful writing style as always, but I have to say I much preferred the first trilogy. " Bit of a disappointing finale to a brilliant series. " I didn't think I was going to like the character change but I was wrong. " Please read review for Kushiel's Scion. " 6 In Kushiel ser, 3rd in Imriel, pretty good, ties up loose ends " Slightly disappointing but I hold her to very high standards. Carey managed to keep up the pace through six books. " Imri and the Sun Princess are annoyingly happy, until lightening strikes, everything is forgotten and they have to fall in love all over again in order to save the world. It is a bit sappy, and isn't as good as any of the first trilogy, but it is at least fun to read. It is a return to an epic storyline that sweeps up the entire country of Terre d'Ange, and it introduces a host of interesting and fun characters.

"Out of the second trilogy, this is the best one. But when a dark foreign force casts a shadow over Terre d'Ange and all the surrounding countries, their world is turned upside down, alliances of the unlikeliest kind are made, and Imriel and Sidonie learn that the god Elua always puts hearts together apurpose. Facing a terrible choice, Imriel and Sidonie prepare ruefully for another long separation. Imriel must perform an act of faith: search the world for his infamous mother and bring her back to Terre d'Ange to be executed for treason. There's only one way they can truly be together. If they marry, Sidonie will be disinherited, losing her claim on the throne. She will not divide the lovers, yet neither will she acknowledge them.

To quell the unrest, Ysandre, the queen, sets her decree. Many others cannot forget the betrayals of Imriel's mother, Melisande, who plunged their country into a bloody war that cost the lives of their fathers, brothers, and sons. Younger generations, infatuated by their heart-twisting, star-crossed romance, defend the couple. Having learned a lesson about thwarting the will of the gods, Imriel and Sidonie publicly confess their affair, only to see the country boil over in turmoil.
