Sophie discovers that Councillor Oralie is her genetic mother, and decides to stop looking for her father. In the later books, particularly in Legacy, she also searches for the truth about her past (namely her biological parents) and purpose, which are shrouded in mystery. Between her training with the Black Swan, struggles with the Neverseen, and missions for Team Valiant, she attends Foxfire Academy and lives at Havenfield with her adoptive parents, Grady and Edaline Ruewen. She is a fealty-sworn member of the Black Swan as well as a Regent for the Council on Team Valiant.
All of the books (except for a few parts of Unlocked) are from her perspective. Sophie Elizabeth Foster (pronounced so-fee eliz-a-beth fost-er) is the main protagonist in the Keeper of the Lost Cities series.
